RE: What were some silly things you gave up?

Man don't get me started on the stupid crap we were put through as kids in the tower.

Giving up having fun at recess because I was getting badgered for not saluting the flag.

Giving up playing sports.  I was a good  runner, baseball and football player!

Giving up going to school dances.

Giving up my Saturday morning cartoons!

Giving up all kinds of music.

Giving up "worldly" friends...Well not really, I still have one that I have been seeing since 4th grade!  LOL  Jawohl!

Giving up doing fun crafts with the kids on holidays!  I had to go sit in the back of the room and do math!!!!!!

A few things I gave up....

My worldly family for the most part... (could kick myself for that)

Holidays, birthdays... etc.

My wild biker days... lol (maybe that was a good thing)

I gave up as much as everyone else... feels good to be "FREE" again.

The question is what didn't we give up....okay let me think....

  *  Swimming at school galas even though I was pretty good
  *  Play a witch in the junior school play - again I was good
  *  Gave up curly hair - it was far too curly to be considered spiritual

there were a heeeeeelll of a lot of other things.  We'd be here all day

LOL  I gave up a promising career as a musician because it was "bad" to be in a band.  I played in a band for a couple of years after I stopped going to the Kingdumb Hell, but by then I had to worry too much about work and family to take it as seriously as I would have when I was younger.

Even though I was never a JW, I was far enough into my study that I had given up...

Yoga & Meditation
Reiki
Reading of horoscopes and all the good stuff that I loved so much!
Only to name a few.

I was SO beginning to fit the mold, it was not even funny!  More like scarycry

My avatar is Bewitched because when I was 9 years old I thought Elizabeth Montgomery was the most beautiful woman in the whole world! (Now I look more like Endora lol!)
  • The dubs who were studying with me said, "Would Jehovah want you to watch a show about witches? YOU decide..."     Yeah, right.
  • I also gave up my favorite all time cereal- Lucky Charms!
  • They told me I couldn't wear the Christopher medal my 5th grade 'boyfriend' gave me when we went steady coz it was Catholic.
  • And when I learned a campfire song about Noah and the Ark, they said, "well, ask yourself- is it based on what the Bible says?" Then I said, "but you guys sing The Unicorn Song by the Irish Rovers all the time"... One of my few zingers, at 10 years old.biggrin
